Tony Tan is a Singaporean politician. He was the seventh President of Singapore, from 1 September, 2011 to 31, August 2017. He was also Minister for Finance, from 24 October, 1983 to 1 January, 1985, Minister for Education, from 1 January, 1985 to 29 December, 1991, and Minister for Defence, from 1 August, 1995 to 1 August, 2003, among other duties.
He is the son of Tan Seng Hwee and Jessie Lim Neo Swee. He is married to Mary Chee Bee Kiang, with whom he has four children.
Tony’s paternal grandfather was named Tan Cheng Siong.
Tony’s paternal grandmother was named Wee Chai Neo.
Tony’s maternal grandfather was named Lim Kian Beng.
Tony’s maternal grandmother was Annie Tan Sun Neo (the daughter of Tan Jiak Kim and Ang Geok Hoe). Tan Jiak Kim was the son of Tan Beng Swee and See Keng Neo. Ang Geok Hoe was the daughter of Ang Kim Tee and Lim.
