Yao Ming is a Chinese professional basketball player and executive. He played for the Shanghai Sharks of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), and the Houston Rockets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He has been President of the Chinese Basketball Association, since February 23, 2017, and a Member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (12th), from March 2013 to March 2018. He is 7′6″.
He is the son of professional basketball players Fang Fengdi and Yao Zhiyuan. His father is 6′7″ and his mother is 6′3″. He is married to professional basketball player Ye Li, with whom he has a daughter.
Ming’s paternal grandfather was named Yao Xueming.
Ming’s paternal grandmother was named Xu Lizhen.
