Bruce Bennett was an American actor and athlete. He was a successful college athlete in football, and in intercollegiate and international track-and-field competitions. In 1928, he won the Silver medal for the shot put at the Olympic Games in Amsterdam. he was also credited as Herman Brix.
Bruce was the son of Minna Christina Margaretha and Anton Heirich Brix. His parents were German emigrants, from Schleswig-Holstein. He was married to Jeannette C. Braddock, until her death, with whom he had two children.
Bruce’s paternal grandfather was named Peter Friedrich Brix.
