Brit Hume is an American television journalist and political commentator. He was the host of the show Special Report with Brit Hume from 1998 to 2008.

Brit is the son of Virginia Powell (Minnigerode) and George Graham Hume.

Brit’s paternal grandfather was Graham Watkins Hume (the son of Thomas Levi Hume and Nannie Graham Pickrell). Thomas was the son of Charles W. Hume and Frances Virginia Rawlings/Rawlins. Nannie was the daughter of Adolphus H. Pickrell and Mary E. Watkins.

Brit’s paternal grandmother was Laura Belle Willett (the daughter of James Polk Willett and Laura Adelaide Welch). James was the son of Voltaire Willett and Rachel Maria Ijams. Brit’s great-grandmother Laura was the daughter of James Sylvester Welch and Harriet Jane Legg.

Brit’s maternal grandfather was George Carter Minnigerode (the son of Charles Fredrick Ernest Minnigerode and Virginia Cuthbert Powell). Charles was the son of Charles Frederic Ernst Minnigerode, who was German, and of Mary Carter. Virginia was the daughter of George Cuthbert Powell and Marietta Fauntleroy Turner.

Brit’s maternal grandmother was Helen Louise Galt (the daughter of Walter Allen Galt and Belle Britton).
