Devon’s paternal grandfather was Charles Edward “Ted” Windsor, Sr. (the son of John Carpenter Windsor and Dorothy Edna Heppes). Ted was born in La Grange, Illinois. John was the son of John Edward Windsor, whose father was English, and of Eliza Louise Hoppin, who had deep roots in the U.S. Dorothy was the daughter of Otto August Heppes, whose father, and maternal grandparents, were German, and of Edna Beatrice Troeger, whose grandparents were also all German.

Devon’s paternal grandmother was Barbara Jane Chalker (the daughter of Richard Bushnell Chalker and Madeline Jane Smidl). Barbara was born in Oak Park, Illinois. Richard was the son of Benjamin Haskell Chalker, who had deep roots in the U.S., and of Mary Emma Crouse, who was of half German and half Irish descent. Madeline was the daughter of Jan “John” Smidl, whose parents were Czech, and of Barbara/Barbora Vlach, who was from Podmokly, Czech Republic.
