Hank Aaron was an American professional baseball player. A right fielder and designated hitter, he played for the Milwaukee/Atlanta Braves and the Milwaukee Brewers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He served as the senior vice president of the Atlanta Braves, and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. He was nicknamed “Hammer” and “Hammerin’ Hank.”
Hank was the son of Estella (Pritchett) and Herbert Aaron. His brother, Tommie Aaron, was also a professional baseball player player. By the time of Hank’s retirement, the pair had held the record for most career home runs by two siblings. He also had 755 career home runs, breaking Babe Ruth’s MLB record.
Hank was married to Billye Williams, until his death. He had five children with his former wife Barbara Lucas, and a daughter with Billye.
Hank’s paternal grandfather was The Rev. Henry Aaron (the son of Joseph Aaron and Lucy, or of Henry Aaron and Willie Anne Scott). The Rev. Henry was born in Alabama. Willie was the daughter of Battle Scott and Gracy Blount.
Hank’s paternal grandmother was Mariah/Maria Phenie Archey/Archie/Archer (the daughter of William Archey/Archie and Margaret Amelia Archer). Mariah was born in Alabama. William was the son of Esther.
