Sigurður Ingi Jóhannsson is an Icelandic politician. He was the 26th Prime Minister of Iceland, from 7 April, 2016 to 11 January, 2017. He has been Chairman of the Progressive Party, from 2 October, 2016, and Minister of Infrastructure, since 28 November, 2021. He was previously Minister for the Environment and Natural Resources, from 23 May, 2013 to 31 December, 2014, and Minister for Fisheries and Agriculture, from 23 May, 2013 to 7 April, 2016, among other duties.

His parents, Jóhann Halldór Pálsson and Hróðný Sigurðardóttir, were simultaneously killed in a car accident. He is married to Ingibjörg Elsa Ingjaldsdóttir. He was previously married to Anna Kristjana Ásmundsdóttir. He has five children.

Sigurður’s paternal grandfather was Páll Guðmundsson (the son of Guðmundur Guðmundsson and Guðfinna Kolbeinsdóttir). Guðmundur was the son of Guðmundur Guðmundsson and Guðrún Guðmundsdóttir. Guðfinna was the daughter of Kolbeinn Eiríksson and Jóhanna Bergsteinsdóttir.

Sigurður’s paternal grandmother was Margrjet Guðmundsdóttir (the daughter of Guðmundur Ísaksson and Guðrún Brynjólfsdóttir). Sigurður’s great-grandfather Guðmundur was the son of Ísak Sigurðsson and Pálína Pálsdóttir. Guðrún was the daughter of Brynjólfur Einarsson and Valgerður Guðmundsdóttir.

Sigurður’s maternal grandfather was Sigurður Ingi Sigurðsson (the son of Sigurður Þorsteinsson and Ingibjörg Þorkelsdóttir). Sigurður’s grandfather Sigurður was born in Eyrarbakki. Sigurður’s great-grandfather Sigurður was the son of Þorsteinn Guðmundsson and Guðrún Bjarnadóttir. Ingibjörg was the daughter of Þorkell Jónsson and Sigríður Jónsdóttir.

Sigurður’s maternal grandmother was Arnfríður Jónsdóttir (the daughter of Jón Rafnsson and Hróðný Jónsdóttir). Jón was the son of Rafn Júlíus Símonarson and Elín Andrésdóttir. Hróðný was the daughter of Jón. She was adopted by Hannes Magnússon and Vigdís Jónsdóttir.
