Ron Francis is a Canadian professional ice hockey player. He was a center, and played for 23 seasons, with the Hartford Whalers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Carolina Hurricanes, and Toronto Maple Leafs. He is the general manger of the Seattle Kraken.

Ron is the son of Ella and Russell Francis. His second cousin is professional ice hockey player Mike Liut. He is married to Mary Lou Robie, with whom he has three children.

Ron’s paternal grandfather was George Francis (the son of Luke Francis and Sarah Gurd). George was English.

Ron’s paternal grandmother was Agnes McLean (the daughter of Martin McLean and Margaret Adams). Martin was born in Boardmills, County Down, Northern Ireland, the son of John William McLean and Agnes Martin. Margaret was also Irish.

Ron’s maternal grandfather was Lancelot Cooper Johnston (the son of William J. Johnston and Mary Nethery). Lancelot’s parents were Irish.
