Findagrave is a second source that uses the actual Czech parish record images as the primary source of the Czech ancestor info. An additional secondary source of the Czech lineage is the Annia-Steirdorf family book. Josef Ocasek is person #7245.

In Czech language “ocas” means tail. The cek/sek ending on surnames is a diminutive, so Ocasek means “little tail”.

Ric’s paternal great-grandfather, Josef Ocásek (1858-1906), father of August, was born on present day Skomelno, Czech Republic. Around 1880. the family moved from Skomelno, to the mining town of present day Anina, Romania (then the Austor-Hungarian Empire). The images and links to the Roman Catholic parish baptism/marriage/death records are documented on Findagrave.
