Red Ruffing was an American professional baseball player. He was a pitcher. He played for the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, and Chicago White Sox.

Red was the son of Francisca/Frances (Fest/Mueller) and John Ruffing, who was Mayor of Coaltown, a company community within the town of Nokomis. His parents were German emigrants, with his father being from Elfersberg. He was married to Pauline Mulholland, with whom he had a son.

Red’s paternal grandfather was Johann/John N. Ruffing (the son of Andreas Ruffing and Susanna Haag).

Red’s paternal grandmother was Juliane/Julia C. Weber (the daughter of Johann G. Weber and Charlotta Lupe Ziliox).
