Letizia Ortiz is the Queen consort of Spain, as the wife of King Felipe VI of Spain, of the House of Bourbon-Anjou. She has been Queen consort since 19 June, 2014. The couple has two children, including Leonor, Princess of Asturias.

Letizia was previously a journalist and news anchor. She is the daughter of María Paloma Rocasolano Rodríguez, a nurse and union representative, and Jesús José Ortiz Álvarez, a journalist.

Queen Letizia’s paternal grandfather was José Luis Ortiz Velasco (the son of José Ortiz Pool and Carmen Velasco Gutiérrez).

Queen Letizia’s paternal grandmother was María del Carmen “Menchu” Álvarez del Valle (the daughter of Jesús or Eulalio Álvarez de la Fuente and Plácida del Valle Arribas). María del Carmen was a radio broadcaster in Asturias for over forty years. Plácida was the daughter of Eustasio del Valle Martín and Justa Arribas Aragón.

Queen Letizia’s maternal grandfather was Francisco Julio Rocasolano Camacho (the son of Miguel Rocasolano y Cebrián and María Camacho Rodríguez). Miguel was the son of Miguel Rocasolano y Pérez and Francisca Cebrián. Queen Letizia’s great-great-grandfather Miguel’s patrilineal great-grandfather, Pantaléon Roquesoulane, moved from Marcolès, Auvergne, France to Calanda, Teruel, Spain in the mid-18th century. Pantaléon’s patrilineal ancestry can be traced back to his great-great-great-grandfather, Astorg Roquesoulane.

Queen Letizia’s maternal grandmother was Enriqueta Rodríguez Figarredo/Figueredo (the daughter of Enrique Rodríguez and María Paloma Figueredo). Enriqueta was born in Oviedo, Asturias, Principado de Asturias. Enrique was born in the Philippines, to Spanish parents.
