Pete Alonso is an American professional baseball player. He is a first baseman for the New York Mets of Major League Baseball (MLB). He is nicknamed “Polar Bear.”
He is the son of Michelle and Peter Alonso. His mother played college softball. He is married to Haley.
Pete’s paternal grandfather was Peter Conrad Alonso (the son of Bernardo Rodrigues Alonso and Rosa Molina Espinosa). Peter was Spanish, from Barcelona, Catalonia. His family were refugees from the Spanish Civil War.
Pete’s paternal grandmother was Anna Orestina Pirraglia (the daughter of Benedetto “Benny” Pirraglia and Theresa DeMaio). Anna was born in New York, to parents from Campania, Italy.
