Ollanta Humala is a Peruvian politician. He was President of Peru, from July 28, 2011 to July 28, 2016. He has been President of the Peruvian Nationalist Party, since August 26, 2016, and previously, from October 3, 2005 to December 30, 2013, and was also President pro tempore of the Union of South American Nations, from June 29, 2012 to August 30, 2013, and President pro tempore of the Pacific Alliance, from July 3, 2015 to July 1, 2016.

His father, Isaac Humala Núñez, was an ethnic Quechua indigenous lawyer. His mother, Elena Tasso Heredia, was of half Quechua and half Italian descent, the latter from an old Italian family, established in Peru at the end of the 19th century. Ollanta is married to Nadine Heredia Alarcon, with whom he has three children.

Ollanta’s paternal grandfather was Teófilo Humala Vara (the son of Genaro Humala Narrea and María Vara).

Ollanta’s paternal grandmother was María Sócrates Núñez Heredia (the daughter of Pedro Pablo Núñez Narrea and Timotea Heredia Pérez). Timotea was the daughter of Teodoro Heredia Retamozo and María Concepción Pérez Gutiérrez.

Ollanta’s maternal grandfather was José Tasso Valzania (the son of Termilio Tasso Landa and María Angélica Valzanía Tirado). Termilio was the son of Italian immigrants, Carlo Tasso and Juana Landa. The Tasso family is from Liguria. María was also the daughter of Italian immigrants, Orestes Valzania and Alejandrina Tirado.

Ollanta’s maternal grandmother was María Heredia Palomino (the daughter of Manuel Heredia and María Palomino). Manuel was the son of José Heredia.

    he has less than 25% of Italian ancestry, Tirado is a Spanish last name.
