Oliver James is an English actor, musician, singer, and songwriter. He has starred in the films What a Girl Wants, Raise Your Voice, and Without a Paddle: Nature’s Calling, and on television’s The Innocence Project and Roadkill.

It is implied that Oliver’s character in the film What a Girl Wants is of mixed-race background, as his character states, “my mother was a deb [debutante]… Then she chose to marry beneath her… Her parents probably disowned her… but for some reason they took pity on me, their half-breed grandson. Paid for me to go the right schools, got me into all the right clubs…”

It is not clear if Oliver himself is of mixed-race ancestry. His mother’s maiden surname is Edwards.
