Isn’t Miguel Yustman the son of Isadore and Bessie Yustman who were both Jewish?
I was looking up records maybe I got the wrong person or tree
Bessie and Isadore Yustman of Brooklyn had no children named Miguel. They only had American-born children.
I believe Justman is a Jewish surname
think so… her paternal grandfather could have had a jewish background. its actually a typical jewish last name in south america – mostly argentina.
There are names like “Justmann” that might come from Alsace-Lorraine, France (of German descent).
Her husband didn’t say anything about her having Jewish ancestry.

hmm, okay.
I found this:
https://www.geni.com/people/Odette-Yustman/6000000035506676195?through=6000000035506386659
Odette Anna Blanca Sartori, wife of Jose Yustman (the son of Moises Yustman). Yustman could be a Polish or Russian Jewish surname more than an Alsatian one.
She looks like a typical Western European white girl.
Is her dad a White Cuban like a lot of them?
Her dad is Colombian with apparently a mother that immigrated from Italy. Her mom is Cuban.
So would Odette, Cameron Diaz, Alexis Bledel, Gisele Bundchen, Ana Hickmann, Camilla Belle, Alessandra Ambrosio, Olivia Hussey, Kaya Scodelario, etc. be considered “women of color?”
Because I don’t think they are. I know Latina is often viewed as a race, but these women are of European descent. I guess they are “women of color” in a figurative sense but not a literal one . . .
Really, Latins Americans are latino because their European blood , language and culture. They ar eLatin because Latin Europe.
Only Americans think that latino is a race and a race of color.Latino is not a race and it is a very white,European word.Thinking that latino means a race and a race of color is like thinking that Anglophone is a race and a race of color.
CORRECTION
She’s Jewish, at least according to this source – http://archive.is/twbX
It’s an error/likely assumption because of her surname. Her paternal grandmother and her mother are/were not Jewish. It’s possible that her paternal grandfather was Jewish, but I just have no evidence.
Hmmm.
