Michael Nyqvist was a Swedish actor. He was known for his roles in the films Grabben i graven bredvid, As It Is in Heaven, the Swedish trilogy The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2009), The Girl Who Played with Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest; Abduction (2011), Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Disconnect (2012), Europa Report, John Wick, The Girl King, Kursk, Hunter Killer, and A Hidden Life, and on the shows Martin Beck and Zero Hour.

Michael was adopted from an orphanage, by Gerd Ellen Maria (Nordborg) and Åke Nyqvist. His biological father is said to have been Italian, from Florence, and his biological mother was said to have been Swedish. He was married to Finnish scenographer Catharina Ehrnrooth, until his death, with whom he had two children.

Åke was the son of Johan Ivar Nyqvist and Lily Dagmar Tekla Goës (the daughter of Dr. Axel Theodor Goës and Gertrud Addy Adrianna Ulrich).

Gerd was the daughter of Olof Harald Torsten Nordborg (the son of Olof Anton Nordborg and Emma Konstantia Hertzman) and Ellen Elisabeth.
