Margo Guryan was an American singer-songwriter and composer. She is perhaps best known for her 1968 album Take a Picture. She was also a songwriter for other artists in the 1960s. Guryan trained in classical music and jazz composition, studying at Boston University and working with musicians such as jazz pianist Bob Brookmeyer.
Margo was born in New York City to Seymour “Sey” and Evelyn Guryan (née Lessoff). Both of her parents are of Ashkenazi Jewish descent from Russia.
Margo’s paternal grandfather Isidore “Ike” Guryan was born in Russia to Nachman Guryan and Bella Charman.
