Jim Kaat is an American professional baseball player and television sports commentator. He was a starting pitcher. He is nicknamed “Kitty.” Jim is the son of Nancy and John Kaat. He is married to Margie. Jim has four children with his late wife MaryAnn.

Jim’s paternal grandfather was Simon Kaat (the son of Marinus Jacobus Kaat and Maatje ‘t Gilde). Simon was born in Tholen, Netherlands.

Jim’s paternal grandmother was Johanna Adrianna DeJonge/De Jonge (the daughter of Machiel de Jonge and Cornelia Poleij/Poley). Machiel was born in Kruiningen, Reimerswaal Municipality, Zeeland, Netherlands, the son of Machiel Dejonge and Jannetje DeFouw. Jim’s maternal grandmother was Mientje Minnie Rietberg (the daughter of Albert Rietberg and Niesje Elizabeth Van Raalte). Albert was born in the Netherlands, the son of Jan Hendrik Reitberg and Meintje van Der Vecht. Niesje was born in Michigan, the daughter of Dutch parents, Roelof VanRaalte and Cornelia Engeline Banjminse.
