Jennifer Lawrence is an American actress. She won the Academy Award for Best Actress for Silver Linings Playbook (2012). She is the first person born in the 1990s to have won an acting Oscar. Her other films are Garden Party, The Poker House, The Burning Plain, Winter’s Bone, The Beaver, X-Men: First Class, and its sequels; Like Crazy, The Hunger Games series, House at the End of the Street, American Hustle, Serena, Joy, A Beautiful Planet, as the narrator; Passengers, mother!, Red Sparrow, Don’t Look Up, Causeway, and No Hard Feelings. She also co-starred on The Bill Engvall Show.

Jennifer is the daughter of Karen, who ran a summer camp, and Gary Lawrence, a construction company owner. Her family has lived in the United States for many generations. Her ancestry includes English, German, Irish, Scottish, Scots-Irish/Northern Irish, distant Welsh, and remote French and Swiss-German. Jennifer is married to art gallerist Cooke Maroney, with whom she has one child. She has also been billed as Jennifer Lawrence Maroney.

She founded the Jennifer Lawrence Foundation, which advocates for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the Special Olympics, and is an active member of non-partian organization RepresentUs, which stands against political corruption. She has also formed production company Excellent Cadaver.

Jennifer’s paternal grandfather was David Vernon Lawrence (the son of Francis Marion “Frank” Lawrence and Bessie Steger). David was born in Erlanger, Kenton, Kentucky, and was a University of Kentucky basketball player, as well as a track coach, and dean of students, at the University of Louisville. Francis was the son of James Ogden Lawrence and Penelope Burroughs. Bessie was the daughter of Samuel Jefferson Steger and Ida Louisa O’Banion.

Jennifer’s paternal grandmother was Doris Shrader (the daughter of William Martin Shrader and Reva May/Mae Adams). Doris was born in Sulphur, Henry, Kentucky. William was the son of John William Shrader and Permelia Alice “Allie” Martin. Reva was the daughter of John Thaddis/Thadius Adams and Lena R. Tague.

Jennifer’s maternal grandfather is Charles J. “Charlie” Koch (the son of Charles A. Koch and Mary P. Sheehan). Jennifer’s grandfather Charles was born in Ohio. Jennifer’s great-grandfather Charles was the son of Charles A. Koch and Anna M. “Annie” Kleinhenz/Kleinhens/Kleinhantz/Kleinhans, and was of German descent. Jennifer’s great-grandmother Mary was the daughter of Martin J. Sheehan, who was Irish, and of Mary Elizabeth Broderick, whose parents were also Irish.

Jennifer’s maternal grandmother is Carolyn Mongtomery (the daughter of Robert Charles Montgomery and Esta Maud White). Carolyn was born in Kentucky. Robert was the son of Charles/Charley A. Montgomery and Leona/Leana/Lena M. Blocher. Esta was the daughter of Hiram Moquillous White and Viola Agnes Gregory.

Jennifer is a fifth cousin, once removed, of actor Jeremy Renner. Jennifer’s five times great-grandparents, Robert Tague and Sarah/Sallie Caplinger, were also Jeremy’s four times great-grandparents.
