Hoyt Wilhelm was an American professional baseball player. He was a Major League Baseball pitcher. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1985.

Hoyt was the son of Ethel and John Wilhelm.

Hoyt’s paternal grandfather was Caleb Benjamin Wilhelm (the son of Moses Wilhelm and Penelope Litaker). Moses was born in Rowan, North Carolina, the son of Lewis Wilhelm, Sr. and Margaret Rebekah Bostian. Penelope was from North Carolina, and was the daughter of John Litaker and Elizabeth Cope.

Hoyt’s paternal grandmother was Sarah Ann Gibson (the daughter of James Matthew Gibson and Harriet C. Russ). Harriet was born in North Carolina, the daughter of Levi Russ and Sally Riley.

Hoyt’s maternal grandfather was John Alexander Stanley (the son of Jonathan Stanley and Theresa Tucker). John was born in North Carolina.

Hoyt’s maternal grandmother was Victoria Virginia Myrph (the daughter of Samuel Myrph and Catherine Susanna Cline). Catherine was born in North Carolina, the daughter of John Cline and Eleanor Joiner.
