Howie’s paternal grandfather was Johann Traugott Morenz (the son of Johann Adolph Morenz and Johanne Anna Christine Sebastian). Howie’s grandfather Johann’s parents were German.
Howie’s paternal grandmother was named Anna Dorothea Pamberine Gethke (the daughter of Frederika Ferg).
Howie’s maternal grandfather was Mitchell Pauli (the son of Johann George Pauli and Rosina Andres). Mitchell’s family were Alsatian Germans.

I think that was why I mistakenly though he had French/French-Canadian ancestry.
So who is the French-Canadian grandparent(s)? Perhaps more Québécois than “French-Canadian”?
