Howie Morenz was a Canadian professional ice hockey player. He was a center, who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) mainly for the Montreal Canadians. Howie was the son of Rosina and William Frederick Morenz.

Howie’s paternal grandfather was Johann Traugott Morenz (the son of Johann Adolph Morenz and Johanne Anna Christine Sebastian). Howie’s grandfather Johann’s parents were German.

Howie’s paternal grandmother was named Anna Dorothea Pamberine Gethke (the daughter of Frederika Ferg).

Howie’s maternal grandfather was Mitchell Pauli (the son of Johann George Pauli and Rosina Andres). Mitchell’s family were Alsatian Germans.

Howie’s maternal grandmother was named Kunigunda Margareta Anna Eckstein.
