Harold Rosenberg was an American writer, educator, philosopher, and art critic. He was known for his art criticism, as well as coining the term “Action Painting” for what later came to be known as abstract expressionism. He was The New Yorker’s art critic.

Harold was the son of Fanny and Abraham Rosenberg. His parents were Russian Jewish immigrants.
