Freida Pinto is an Indian actress and model. She rose to fame as Latika in her debut film, Slumdog Millionaire. She has also had leading roles in the films Miral, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Trishna, Immortals (2011), Desert Dancer, Love Sonia, Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle, Hillbilly Elegy, and Mr. Malcolm’s List, and television’s Guerilla. She supports humanitarian causes, and has been a global ambasador for Plan International’s Because I am a Girl, and part of non-profit We Do It Together.
Freida is the daughter of Sylvia, principal of St. John’s Universal School in Goregaon, and Frederick Pinto, a senior branch manager for the Bank of Baroda in Bandra, both in West Bombay. She had a middle class upbringing in Malad, North Bombay.
Freida was quoted in an article saying that she is of 100% Indian descent, of Mangalorean Catholic origin. Mangalorean Catholics are also known as Konkani people. Freida’s surname is Portuguese. Many Indians took Portuguese surnames from missionaries who converted them to Christianity.
Freida is married to American photographer Cory Tran, with whom she has a son.

Your people are so stupid period. She has a European name that names she likley has European Ancestry not hard to figured out. India is made of so many groups of people. The Europeans you came and colonized India were the British, the French and the porteguese. Just like Rusell Peter he is a mixture of Indian and European. It is true many East Indian are mixed of European because of that time period in history. There is also black people who were brought to India as slaves through the arabs that what many sources are saying and mixed with the East Indians. This island in India has these groups that look like many black folks in parts of Africa. I always thought East Indian are look a mixture of European and black mixed for some reason so many of them fit that mixtured. They can be a cuban mixed with black, Domican ect.
I don’t know for sure if she’s mixed with European or not. None of would, though she claims herself that she isn’t. She may or may not.
But using a name as evidence of having European ancestry is silly. I’m sorry. There are plenty of Indian Christians with Anglo names, so they must also all have some European ancestry? Let me guess, all the Muslim Indians must be mixed with Arabs. I’m not saying these mixtures don’t exist, surely they do (although the caste system is very rigid, so not every Indian has to have recent admixture just because there were invasions.)
