François Legault is a Canadian politician and businessperson. He has served as Premier of Québec, since October 18, 2018, and Leader of the Coalition Avenir Québec, since November 4, 2011. He has also been a Member of the National Assembly of Québec for Rousseau, from December 15, 1998 to June 25, 2009, and a Member of the National Assembly of Québec for L’Assomption, since September 4, 2012.
François is the son of Pauline Schetagne and Lucien Legault, a postmaster. He was raised in Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue, Québec. François is married to Isabelle Brais, with whom he has two children.
François’s paternal grandfather was Hector Legault (the son of Alfred Placide Legault Deslauriers and Albina Poudrette dite Lavigne). Hector was born in Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue, Communauté-Urbaine-de-Montréal. Alfred was the son of Placide Legault and Lucie Guay. Albina was the daughter of Luc Poudrette dite Lavigne and Emilie Pilon.
François’s paternal grandmother was Marie-Jeanne Bourbonnais (the daughter of Charles Auguste Antoine Bourbonnais and Eugenie Bourbonnais). Marie-Jeanne was born in St-Zotique, Soulanges. Auguste was the son of Louis-Joseph Bourbonnais and Zoe Hunault. Eugenie was the daughter of Julien Bourbonnais and Melina Sauve.
François’s maternal grandfather was Napoleon Schetagne (the son of Telesphone Schetagne and Genevieve Daigneau). Napoleon was born in Pointe-Claire. Telesphone was the son of François-Xavier Schetagne and Mathilde Legault. Genevieve was the daughter of Eusebe Daigneau and Julie Legault.
François’s maternal grandmother was Cecile Pilon (the daughter of Adolphe-Rodolphe Pilon and Marceline Lalonde). Cecile was born in Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue. Adolphe-Rodolphe was the son of Paul Pilon and Domithilde Portelance. Marceline was the daughter of François Lalonde and Marcelline Brunet.
