Devin Nunes is an American politician, and dairy farmer. A Republican, he has been a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from California, since January 3, 2003, as well as Chair of the House Intelligence Committee, from January 3, 2015 to January 3, 2019.

Devin is the son of Toni and Antonio Nunes, Jr. His paternal grandfather founded Nunes & Sons, a dairy operation in Tulare. Devin is married to Elizabeth, with whom he has three children.

Devin’s paternal grandfather was Anthony Lewis Nunes (the son of Antonio Teixeira Nunes and Maria Inez Silveira). Devin’s grandfather Anthony’s parents were Portuguese emigrants, from the Azores. Maria was the daughter of Joaquin Antonio Silveira and Delphina C. Bettencourt Azevedo.

Devin’s paternal grandmother was Evelyn D. Gomes (the daughter of Henrique Silveira “Henry” Gomes and Della Evelyn Nevis). Henrique was born in the Azores, Portugal, the son of Joao Silveira Gomes and Maria Silveira d’Avila. Della was born in California, the daughter of Azorean Portuguese immigrants, Jacinto Nevis/Neves and Marianna Ignacio De Brum, from Pico Island. Della lost her U.S. citizenship when she married Henrique, becoming a Portuguese citizen.

Devin’s maternal grandfather was Antone B. Enas (the son of Antone Brum Enas and Adelaide Carolina Margaret Costa/Da Costa). Devin’s grandfather Antone was born in California, to Portuguese parents, from the Azores.

Devin’s maternal grandmother was Bertha Lee Sandy (the daughter of Fred Johnson Sandy and Martha Clark). Fred was the son of William Harrison Sandy and Bertha Ushery/Usrey. Bertha’s family was from the Midwest and south.
