Dave Spector is an American Gaijin Tarento, television producer, author, and actor. Based in Japan, he appears as a commentator on Japanese television programs, including Fuji TV’s daily morning news program Tokudane! and TBS’s weekly Sunday Japan. He has appeared in the films Nihon Igai Zenbu Chinbotsu and One Missed Call. He speaks fluent Japanese.

Dave became interested in Japanese culture as a child in Chciago, after meeting a Japanese classmate. He learned Japanese, and is said to have won the Chicago Japanese speech contest. He moved to Japan in 1983, after researching Japanese media there for the American television program Ripley’s Believe It or Not!

Dave is married to Kyōko Spector (京子スペクター, Kyōko Supekutā), who is from Chiba Prefecture. The couple met in the U.S.
