Brad Ausmus is an American professional baseball player. He was a catcher, who played for the San Diego Padres, the Detroit Tigers, the Houston Astros, and the Los Angeles Dodgers, and managed the Detroit Tigers and the Los Angeles Angels, in Major League Baseball (MLB).

Brad is the son of Linda and Harry Ausmus. His father is Protestant. His mother is Jewish. His father is a professor of European history, and wrote A Schopenhauerian Critique of Nietzsche’s Thought.

Brad is married to Liz, with whom he has two children.

Brad’s paternal grandfather was Harry Lee Ausmus (the son of William Harrison Ausmus and Mary Blaine Williams).

Brad’s paternal grandmother was Gretna Ellen Childress (the daughter of Alvis Lindsay Childress and Mary Callie Edens).

Brad’s maternal grandfather was Jacques Michel Dronsick (the son of Leopold Dronsick and Ricka Schmidt). Jacques’ parents were Lithuanian Jews. Leopold was born in Vilnius, the son of Jacob Michael Dronsick and Ella “Elka.” Ricka was born in Kaunas, the daughter of Michael Schmidt and Celia Danofsky.

Brad’s maternal grandmother was named Adele E. Friedman (the daughter of Joseph Friedman and Ida). Adele was born in Massachusetts.
