Bowen Yang is an American actor, comedian, podcaster, and writer. He is a featured player on the show Saturday Night Live.

Bowen was born in Brisbane, to Chinese parents who are educated professionals. His father, Ruilin, was raised in rural China, in a straw and mud hut. His parents moved to Brisbane so Ruilin could earn his doctorate in mining explosives.

His family speaks Mandarin. During his childhood, they moved to Montréal, Canada, and later Aurora, Colorado.
