Artie Shaw was an American clarinetist, composer, bandleader, and actor. He was the son of Sarah (Strauss) and Harry Arshawsky. His father was a Russian Jewish immigrant and his mother was an Austrian Jewish immigrant.

Artie’s paternal grandparents were Abraham Arshawsky and Fieze Ginkcwrsch.

Artie’s maternal grandparents were Leib Strauss and Haye Koslar.
