I wish people would understand this,African American Doesn’t mean your just black. It’s a cultural Identity, that is another one of a list of names,to describe the people of recent African heritage here. They have taken more pride in that heritage, than the others they may be(and usually are). Why do you think AA’s often say they are something else, because they know they are.(whether European or native)As I have stated many times, there are white African Americans:

The two people who thumbs my comment down, prove me wrong.People of African descent in the U.S. have been called many names, both (negative and positive),and African Americans is just the new title for the culture here. Also at least half the AA’s here have more than one bloodline(every DNA test out has prove this). They tested 500 AA’s at a college in Washington, and everyone of them had European descent (avg 22%).That mean they are not just black. Now as far as the White AA’s,there are plenty of examples that I speak the truth.Trevor Richards,Paulo Serodio,Greta Lawrence are just a few.Just because you might not have every heard of a White person claiming that title, doesn’t mean they don’t exist.

          • mids says:

I have a question for you, of the people they tested, none of them were mixed right, because I think they use mixed people in these test and mixed people are not black

      • Mm says:

Why do you have to spew your beliefs on everyone else?
Not all people that consider themselves ‘African-American’ are or believe that they are of a mixed heritage. I know that I don’t. And I’m not.
I am African-American, as in of african descent, and I am sooooo proud of it! :) People r what they r and what they want to be no matter how you view them. Don’t be so close-minded.

        • Multiethnicchick says:

It’s not about people spewing their believes it’s about physical anthropology. If you want to live in denial of the phenotypical categories based off of human phenotypes associated with specific groups of humans then you should’t use terms like black or white or asian at all.

    • mids says:

African American is such a stupid and confusing term. Now if you mean African American as black(descendant of the black racial groups of Africa) then no she obviously isn’t. Her facial features and hair texture are not that of a black person. The black racial groups of Africa or Negroid as the scientific name puts it, are characterized by a broad nose, tightly coiled hair that tends to grow up and two the side and thick lips.

      • fuzzybear44 says:

        To mid

I wasn’t there, however they asked for African American. Therefore those people seeing themselves as that showed up.Now you say mixed people aren’t black, however there are a good amount of people who would disagree with you. Also with the way your thinking, you just knock out 2/3 of the black population here. You also stated on another part of the site, that skin color does not denote mixture. So even if I was there, how would I know whose mixed ,and who isn’t?Now I’m of mixed heritage(MGM),but I see myself as a black man.If your of mixed heritage, and see yourself as other, then that’s your choice.

        To mids

Here are some of the various definitions of African American
1.an American of African and (especially) of black African ancestry.
This is why I say stated there were White African Americans also.

2.Black Americans or Afro-Americans, and formerly as American Negroes) are citizens or residents of the United States who have( total or significant partial) African heritage or ancestors

You will notice the phrase “significant partial”,which means the person does not have to be 100%.It’s also why they classified mixed people as such.I know it sound unfair, but it’s what this country did and still is doing.

I didn’t used the phrase Sub-Saharan Africa in the second definition, because that just helps to miseducate black people here.Black people were never confined to that part of Africa. That was complete and unbelievable Bullsh*t.There are other definitions, but with the two I’ve given I hope you get what I’ve been saying.

Now you state that she is not black(descendant of the black racial groups of Africa)

If I’m not mistaken, her bio says she half AA.Last time I checked, that means some part of her heritage comes from Africa.

Then you say her facial features and hair texture are not that of a black person.

Have you actually being looking at Africans lately? The stereotype that’s your using is completely racists and outdated.I have put pics after pic on this site over the two yrs I’ve been on it,that completely blow your stereotype out the water. It’s so outdated, that they keep coming up with new names for the differences in black people, for example (Capoid ).You have black Africans as they are called, that are Caucasian in Phenotype,as well as the so called Negroid. Then you have the mixed Phenotypes(Caucasian nose with full lips,or broad nose with thin lips etc). You have types of hair, and I forgot about the eyes.I don’t know what the black people look like around you,but I’ve never lived in a area where the black people just fit your stereotype.

you stated African American is such a stupid and confusing term

Well it’s no more stupid or confusing than any of the other terms.Caucasian for example,it doesn’t mean white,it’s a Phenotype. They had to change the definition four times in the last 80yrs.Each time it’s including new people, the latest says light to brown skin.Pretty soon it will be truthful a say anybody.I’m Jewish(no offense to any Jewish person on the site).there different kinds of them, from white to black, even Asian.I’ve talked to Asian ones, they just say they are Jewish. Now should I look at him and go wait your Asian.Or should I give that person the respect,I mean there are Asian jews in Israel .

Now AA is just the latest term,I sure they will change it again soon or later. You’ll get your wish, and the Negroids as you like calling them, will be split from you.

      • Mm says:

        mids,
        are you serious?
Everything you said was just racist. I’m 100% african-american yet I don’t have a broad nose or tightly-coiled hair. Despite what most people say, we don’t all look alike. I don’t even look that most like my own parents. I have my grandparents features. I understand what the poster meant when they said they thought Amandla was african-american (as in not mixed) because I have friends and family that have similar features that aren’t mixed.
Biracial almost by definition means that the person would have a vast mixture of features typically seen in specific races.
So her ‘hair and nose’ could be a result of her dad who’s white, or they could just as easily come from her mom who’s black. I’ve seen pictures of Amandla and her parents. She does favor her mother, but she’s got her dad’s eyes. She’s a lovely girl and a great actress.

        • Multiethnicchick says:

Being 100% African American doesn’t mean you’re fully black. It’s an ethnicity, not a race. People are in denial of their mixed ancestry so I wouldn’t be surprised if “black” people claim to have the same hair texture as amandla but insist that they’re not mixed like that idiot Zoe Saldana.

Race traitor! Get out of here with that mess!!!
