Sephardi Jews whose ancestors hail from the Middle East and North Africa consider themselves as Mizrahi Jews as well.

    Add that ‘Mizrahi Jewish’ tag.

So all Sephardi Jews are Mizrahi and all Mizrahi Jews are Sephardi… that’s helpful.

Nope, the only exception among Jews whose ancestors hails from the Arab/Muslim countries are Yemeni Jews who are considered ‘pure’ Mizrahi Jewish.

Either way, Sephardi Jews with no ancestors from the Middle East nor North Africa, are simply ‘just’ Sephardic Jewish.

Who cares if the groups mixed like 1000 years ago? The French also came to England and assimilated, yet we don’t include French in the ethnicity of English people, even if their surname is vaguely French. No one cares if someone is “pure” something or not when it goes back that long.

And I would guess most Jews in Morocco for example can trace all their ancestry back to Iberia even though they’ve lived in North Africa for a long time.

All in all, it’s not very useful to have the tags mixed like this when the people probably only lived in one of the cultures.

My previous comment is like basic knowledge amongst all Israeli Jewish ethnicities.

That’s excatly how these Jewish ethnic groups have defined themselves over the decades, and how other Jewish ethnici groups (Ashkenazi) defined the rest just as well.

The intermarriage between Jewish ethnic groups has just began with the emergence of the State of Israel in 1948, and going stronger than ever in the past few decades, where most Jews are either mixed or have relatives of other Jewish ethnic groups.
