Allen West is an American politician, U.S. Army lieutenant colonel, and political commentator. A Republican, he has served as a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Florida, from January 3, 2011 to January 3, 2013, and Chair of the Texas Republican Party, from July 20, 2020 to July 11, 2021.

He is the son of Elizabeth and Herman West, a career military officer. Allen is married to Angela Graham, with whom he has two children.

Allen’s paternal grandmother was Katie Maude West (the daughter of Allen West and Harriet Brown). Allen’s great-grandfather Allen was the son of Harvey West.

Allen’s maternal grandfather was Samuel Thomas (the son of Cicero Thomas, Jr. and Mittie/Mitty Harris). Samuel was born in Georgia. Cicero was the son of Cicero Thomas, Sr. and Clara McKellar. Mittie was the daughter of Tom Harris and Fannie Raggin.

Allen’s maternal grandmother was Ola Mae Spears (the daughter of Alexander Spears and Annie Clay). Ola was born in Georgia.
