Yung Lean is a Swedish rapper, singer, and songwriter. He is widely recognized as one of the most influential figures in the early cloud rap era. He gained prominence in 2013 with his song “Ginseng Strip 2002,” which went viral on YouTube, and debut mixtape, “Unknown Death 2002.” The following year, he released his debut studio album “Unknown Memory.”

He is the son of diplomat Elsa Håstad and translator Kristoffer Leandoer. His father was born in Stockholm.

Jonatan’s maternal grandfather was Arnold Wesker (the son of Joseph Wesker and Cecile Leah Perlmutter). Arnold was a dramatist, who was born in Stepney, London, England. Joseph was a tailor’s machinist and active communist, who was of Russian Jewish and Ukrainian Jewish descent. Leah was born in Transylvania, to Hungarian Jewish parents.

Jonatan’s maternal grandmother is named Disa Håstad. Disa is a Swedish journalist.
