Steve Ballmer is an American businessperson. He was the chief executive officer of Microsoft from January 2000 to February 2014. He is the owner of the Los Angeles Clippers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He co-founded philanthropic investment company Ballmer Group.

His father, Frederic Henry “Fred” Ballmer (Fritz Hans Ballmer), was a Swiss immigrant. His mother, Beatrice (Dworkin), was Ashkenazi Jewish; her family was from Belarus and Poland. He is married to Connie Synder, with whom he has three children.

Steve’s paternal grandfather was named Fritz H. Ballmer.

Steve’s paternal grandmother was named Marie Scharer.

Steve’s maternal grandfather was Schlomo, later Samuel “Sam,” Dworkin (the son of Yitzhak Dworkin and Freida-Pesya Ehieleva). Samuel was an Ashkenazi Jewish immigrant. Yitzhak was the son of Froim Dworkin and Golda.

Steve’s maternal grandmother was named Rachel, later Rose, Horing. Rose was an Ashkenazi Jewish immigrant.
