He was raised partly in Okemos, Michigan. One of Tyler’s maternal great-grandmothers is said to have been Belgian. Tyler is also said to have Polish ancestry on his father’s side.

Tyler’s paternal grandmother is Eileen Marie Stewart (the daughter of Guy Malcolm Stewart and Sylvia Jane Dickey). Guy was the son of Chester Stewart and Mabel Odle. Sylvia was the daughter of George Ransom Dickey, whose mother was from Ontario, Canada, and of Ormie/Orenie May Martindale.
