    Thought he had Jewish ancestry

Not so far as I’ve found. His father, Jim, was born to Thomas and Agnes (McDonald) Curry. Agnes’s father Hugh was born in Scotland and her mother Agnes (Ferguson) McDonald was born in County Durham to Scottish parents from Dumfries, Scotland. Not much chance of Jewish there.

Thomas Curry’s father was James Curry (who’s ancestry I haven’t worked on yet) and his mother was Catherine Temple. Both were born in County Durham. Catherine’s father was Thomas Temple (son of Edward and Mary Temple) and her mother was Isabella Cook (daughter of Thomas Cook). None of the names suggest any Jewish ancestry.
