  1. While his looks alone appear to be ethnically ambiguous, the fact that his father has a Scandinavian name made me think that he was part Finnish. I mean are Nordic names common in Ethiopia?

        1. In this exact spelling it’s ACTUALLY Finnish. Your comment implies that the name is only Ethiopian and quite common, however a google search for any reference to Ethiopian and this name shows Finnish origins. If it was a common Ethiopian name, examples of this would be easier to find.

          1. Thanks Andrew for the Wikipedia link to Prince MAKONNEN/MEKONNEN, but I was referring to the name MAKKONEN ;)

    1. He looks East African black. Nothing is ambigious about his looks.its strange that so many people think unless you are black as midnight, youre mixed. His hair is kinky.

    2. There is Nothing ethnically ambigious about the BLACK MAN. There are no people except black Africans with his type of hair. And if he was mixed he would not have that kinky hair texture.

    1. See that’s the problem, the media. As well as others, like to promote just one type of Ethiopian. There is almost 100 different ethnic groups there, and they look different from each other. Some are Caucasian in phenotype, while others are not

        1. People have been migrating all over, and in and out of Africa for thousands of years. it’s no telling who was what. Ethiopia encompass a huge amount of land mass in ancient times, with a bunch of different black groups living in it . One group falls . and another steps up to take their place. So it doesn’t matter if your group has been there for thousands of years or a few hundred, they are there now. In ancient times, Ethiopians were described as being “burnt-face” meaning black, so that could have been anybody

    1. Yeah because Africans are very diverse being that Africa has 54 countries and thousands of different ethnic looks and cultures. Like a German looks different from a Finn or someone from Spain. Not all Ethiopians are light skinned just like not all Nigerians are deep black skinned.

    2. Nope. You just have a stereotypical image of an African black person thats not accurate. There are just as many light skin West Africans as there are light skinned East Africans.

    1. I see absolutely NO Caucasian features on this man and he is not even that light skinned. Look at his hair its fully black African. This man has kinkier hair than myself and I do not consider my self mixed.

      1. ok but HAIR is not accurate to say something about ethnicity

i am pale like a sheet of bed but have black hair

my sister is pale, has curly brown hair

        1. @Neiltenant his hair is super tight and super kinky. Skin tone has been noted to be the LEAST and last determinant of racial admixture, therefore HAIR texture is more of an indicator of admixture. There are 100% Africans all over the continent with his skin tone which is NOT that light. He is barely light skinned. All Africans are not dark skinned. Also many dark skinned blacks with wavy curly hair are MORE mixed than lighter blacks with kinky hair. Trust me I am from a mixed country. You cannot say because a black person is lighter skinned that they are mixed. Not accurate at all.

    1. I think he looks West African too, not a single curl pattern to his hair, its fully Afro textured. Even though there are West Africans with loose kinky curly hair

      West African black Tauregs

    1. @Lelo4, you must not know any Ethiopians what you are saying is WRONG. Ehtiopians are not half white they are Black East Africans at 100 percent. Whites like to take credit for them as well as ARabs because of there features. Ethiopians are the oldest humans on earth and most are 100 percent pure East African. Somalians are too. Arabs are hairy people with hook noses, Ethiopians do not have these traits. Also Europeans are a younger race than Ethiopians. They dug up the graves of olde Ethiopian bones and there facial features were exactly the same as today. These people are pure and the oldest black race in Africa.

Somalian born model Iman has always stated that she is a pure 100 percent black East African with no Arab or white Admixutre with a thin nose, thin lips, etc. so called cacusian feture, which are not. East Africans developed independently of Europeans and Arabs. In their part of Africa the weather and climate is different,
Ethiopian Lya Kebede pure black East African (no admixture)

    1. Most Ethiopians are mixed with Caucasian. Of course someone is going to argue with that statement, but most Ethiopians and Eritreans do not look like other black Africans. They’re basically darker skinned white people, some even could pass as Indians. They are not pure black.

        1. calm down and stop cursing…
open your eyes and stop acting like a blind child.
ethiopians do have different features than the rest of africans… this is fact!
you are acting like an ignorant.

          1. @sarahle

( most ethiopian have caucasian facial features like high forehead etc)

That is not correct. There are between 80-100 groups there, most of whom are not Caucasoid. they promote the ones on the web and in the media that are Caucasoid, and ignore the rest

          2. @midori29
Quote(I have never seen an Ethiopian with hair that Kinky. That is West African Ghanian or Nigerian hair.)

Have to disagree a little bit. As I mention before, there are about 80-100 different groups there. This group here was said to be indigenous to Ethiopia, and were actually push off their land by the Somalians in the tenth century. Their hair looks pretty kinky to me:
They do try to relax it with that butter. Like I said, I only disagree about the hair thing.

Every heard about the human zoos in Europe and the U.S.?

        1. These people could never pass as a Punjabi Sikh maybe a South Indian, but I have seen Ethiopians like him before. When I was in Switzerland a person said I don’t look Indian. Then he said I look like a Bollywood Actor plus I’ve been told I can pass as Afghan, Iranian and Arab.

        2. No, NO, NO the look of Ethiopians DID NOT come from white people or Caucasians, the Caucasian look came from black Ethiopians. Ethiopians are the OLDEST people on the earth. They came FIRST. The bones were dug up of ancheint Ethiopians and they looked exactly the same as they do today.

      1. @M you made me realize that there are a lot of IGNORANT people who do not know what black people look like. We come in all different skin tones dark midnight to high yellow and all different hair textures, and colors. curly, kinky, wavy, blonde and red. Please do a google search before you speak NONSENSE. Some people on this site are really really ignorant, wow.

Real black 100 percent West Africans

    2. You do not have hair like that and be mixed, that’s 100 percent pure African hair. Most of the time half black half white has finer looser hair. Going by skin tone is not a good thing. There are 100 percent light skin black Africans, lighter than the weekend. You forget there are West Africans who look like this.
Mother of Amadu Dialo, the slain black man by the police, she is 100 percent black West African.
