The Moffatts is a Canadian pop rock band formed by brothers Scott (lead vocals, guitars) and triplets Clint (backing vocals, bass, percussion), Bob (backing vocals, drums, congas), and Dave Moffatt (lead vocals, keyboards).

They are the sons of Darlana Arlene (Jahrig) Lohr and Franklin “Frank” Moffatt.

Clint has a son with his partner, Sydney McGovern. Bob is married to Amanda Zieschang.

The Moffatts’ paternal grandparents were Andrew “Bill” Moffatt and Dorothy Frances Powell. A picture of The Moffatts’ paternal grandparents can be seen here.

The Moffatts’ maternal grandfather was Clinton Booth Jahrig (the son of William Booth Jahrig and Verna Margaret Carbert). The Moffatts’ great-grandfather William was the son of Swedish emigrant, Emil (later Charles Samuel) Jährig, of Gothenburg, who was of part Danish and German descent, and of Elizabeth Lister, whose own parents, Joseph Lister and Mary Morris, were English emigrants, from Wisbech, Yorkshire (now Cambridgeshire) and Bolton, Lancashire (now Greater Manchester). Verna was the daughter of English emigrant, George Cecil Carbert, of Sandal Magna, Wakefield, Yorkshire (now West Yorkshire), and of Emma Jane Baker. The surname Carbert is of French origin.

The Moffatts’ maternal grandmother was Alice Mae Arlene Barbour (the daughter of Bocie Taft Barbour and Polly Alice Barber). The Moffatts’ grandmother Arlene was an American emigrant, from Ingrams, North Carolina. Bocie was the son of John Calvin Barbour and Louise Alei Benson. Polly was the daughter of Thomas R. “Tom” Barber and Edith Ellender Barber.

The Moffatts’ matrilineal ancestry can be traced back to their fourth great-grandmother, Seely Hill, of North Carolina.
