Tegan Quin and Sara Quin are Canadian songwriters and multi-instrumentalists. They are identical twins. Together, they formed indie pop duo Tegan and Sara in 1998 in Calgary, Alberta. They both play guitar and keyboards.

Tegan and Sara’s parents are Stephen Quin, a housing developer, and Sonia Clement, a therapist. Their cousin, Jen Twynn Payne, is a drummer and lead vocalist for Vancouver-based band The Courtneys. They are both married. Sara has one child.

Tegan and Sara’s maternal grandfather was Lucien Joseph Donat Clement (the son of Stanislaus/Stanislas Clement and Marie Jeanne Bos). Stanislaus was born in Manitoba, the son of Zotique Proulx dit Clement and Marie Elise/Eliza Belanger. Tegan and Sara’s great-grandmother Marie Jeanne was born in Algeria, of French, Italian, and Spanish descent. She was the daughter of Bruno Auguste Marie Joseph Bos, from Isère, Rhône-Alpes, France, and of Jeanne Brignoni, who was born in Tiaret, Algeria.

Tegan and Sara’s maternal grandmother was named Rita Cecile Gagnon (the daughter of Joseph Gagnon and Eva). Rita was born in St. Michel de Squatec, Québec.
