Ted Knight was an American actor. His roles included the film Caddyshack and television’s The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Too Close for Comfort.

He was the son of Sophie/Sophia (Kowalewski/Kowaleska/Kovaleski) and Charles Walter Konopka, a bartender. His parents were Polish. He was married to Dorothy Smith, until his death, with whom he had three children.
