Talia Balsam is an American television and film actress. She is the daughter of actors Martin Balsam and Joyce Van Patten, the niece of actor and animal welfare advocate Dick Van Patten, and the half-niece of director, producer, and actor Tim Van Patten. She is a cousin of professional tennis player, poker commentator, and actor Vincent Van Patten, who is Dick’s son, and a half-cousin of actress Grace Van Patten, who is Tim’s daughter.

She is married to actor John Slattery, with whom she has a son.

Talia’s paternal grandfather was Albert Balsam (the son of Max Balsam and Rosie/Ruth/Rae Fleiser/Flaiser). Albert was a Russian Jewish immigrant.

Talia’s paternal grandmother was Lillian Weinstein (the daughter of Israel Weinstein and Sarah Weinstein). Lillian was a Russian Jewish immigrant.

Talia’s maternal grandfather was Richard Byron Van Patten (the son of John Peter Van Patten and Florence Lucinda Tyler). Richard was born in New York. John was the son of Byron Van Pattern and Elizabeth Abigail Butler, whose mother was German, from Württemberg. Florence was the daughter of Edwin Forest Tyler and Anna Otten.

Talia’s maternal grandmother was Josephine Rose Acerno (the daughter of Vincent Acerno and Rose Larusso). Josephine was born in New York, to Italian parents. Vincent was born in Potenza, Basilicata, the son of Bonevultura Acerno and Josephine.
