Clint Dempsey is an American professional soccer player. He is the all time top-scorer of U.S. National Team.

Clint is the son of Debralynn Marie (Cates) and Aubrey Dave Dempsey. He is married to Bethany (Keegan), with whom he has four children.

Clint’s paternal grandftather was A. Dan Dempsey (the son of David “Dave” Marion Dempsey and Ida Nora Phillips). David was the son of Phillip Daniel Dempsey and Susanna/Susan Smelley/Smelly. Ida was the daughter of Isaac Moses Phillips and Phoebe Ann “Febban” Bass.

Clint’s paternal grandmother is Susie Maytrait Cureton (the daughter of Giles Napoleon Cureton and Susie Myrtle Chalker). Giles was the son of Ellias/Elias L. Cureton and Laura E. Larabee/Larbie/Laribee. Clint’s great-grandmother Susie Chalker was the daughter of Benjamin Franklin Chalker and Emma Visti Welden/Weldon.

Clint’s maternal grandfather is Charles Robert Cates (the son of James William Cates and Mildred Daisy Jackson). James was the son of Robert Bridges Cates and Lillie Alice McAfee.

Clint is a descendant of William Brewster (c. 1566-1644), a Mayflower passenger and noted Pilgrim. Sergio has a son with his former wife, Giannina Maradona. Giannina is the youngest daughter of football legend Diego Maradona.

Gonzalo was born in Brest, Brittany, France, to Argentine parents, Jorge Higuaín, a former football player, and Nancy Zacarías, an artist.

On his mother’s side, Gonzalo is the grandson of Santos Zacarias, a boxer.

The surname “Higuaín” is of Basque origin. Gonzalo’s father has said that his Basque ancestry goes back to his great-grandfather or great-great-grandfather.

Gonzalo has stated:

I am proud to have a Basque surname and Basque heritage. Our origin is French-Basque, but my father used to say that my grandfather had taught him that the Basques are neither Spanish nor French, they are only Basques.

Gonzalo has also been described as having Basque roots on his mother’s side.
