John Kasich is an American politician. A Republican, he has served as Governor of Ohio, since January 10, 2011. He was previously a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Ohio, from January 3, 1983 to January 3, 2001, and Chairman of the House Budget Committee, from January 3, 1995 to January 3, 2001.

He was a candidate for the Republican Party’s nomination for President of the United States in 2000 and 2016.

While he was not on the ballot, he received an electoral vote for President from a faithless elector in the 2016 presidential election.

John is the son of Anne B. (Vukovich) and John Kasich. His grandparents were all immigrants.

Andy Warhol was an American artist. He was a leading figure in the visual art movement, pop art.

His parents, Julia Justína (Zavacka) and Andrej Varhola (anglicized as Andrew Warhola, Sr.), were working-class Lemko emigrants from Mikó (now called Miková), located in today’s northeastern Slovakia, part of the former Austro-Hungarian Empire.

The family was Byzantine Catholic.

The Lemkos are a small ethnic sub-group inhabiting the Carpathian Mountains, who also identify as Rusyn.
