Pablo Larraín is a Chilean filmmaker.

Pablo is the son of politician Magdalena Matte and law professor and Independent Democrat Union senator Hernán Larraín Fernández. His father has been President of Unión Demócrata Independiente, a Chilean right-wing party, since 2015, and was President of the Senate of Chile, from 2004 to 2005. His mother was Chile’s Minister of Housing and Urban Development, from 2010 to 2011.

Pablo is married to Chilean actress Antonia Zegers, with whom he has two children.

Some of Pablo’s Spanish roots are in Navarre and Santander, Cantabria. His English great-great-great-great-grandfather was from York, England. His Italian Alessandri family has Piedmontese roots. The progenitor, Giuseppe Pietro Alessandri Tarzi, arrived in 1821 as consul posterior, representative of the Kingdom of Sardinia and Piedmont, from Pisa.

Pablo’s paternal grandfather was Hernán Larraín Rios (the son of Vicente Jorge Larraín Rojas and María Ríos Talavera). Vicente was the son of Manuel Larraín Pérez and Emilia Rojas Lois. María was the daughter of Rosendo Ríos Jaramillo and Teresa Talavera Appleby.

Pablo’s paternal grandmother was María Eliana Fernández Beraud (the daughter of Arturo Fernández Montalva and Ema Beraud Cuevas). Arturo was the son of Ricardo Fernández Frías and Victoria Montalva Martínez de la Torre.

Pablo’s maternal grandfather was Arturo Matte Alessandri (the son of Arturo Matte Larraín and Rosa Ester/Esther Alessandri Rodríguez). Pablo’s great-grandfather Arturo was the Minister of Finance of Chile, from 1943 to 1944, and was a presidential candidate in 1952. He was the son of Domingo Matte Pérez and Javiera Larraín Bulnes. His siblings, Pablo’s great-great-aunt and great-great-uncle, respectively, were Esther Matte Alessandri, a poet, and Luis Matte Larraín, who was Minister of Agriculture of Chile, from 1927 to 1931. The brothers founded CMPC, a Chilean forestry and paper company, one of the biggest in Latin America. Pablo’s great-grandmother Rosa Alessandri was the daughter of Arturo Fortunato Alessandri Palma and Rosa Ester Rodríguez Velasco. Pablo’s great-great-grandfather Arturo served as the President of Chile three times (from 1920 to 1924, in 1925, and from 1932 to 1938), and had partial Italian ancestry. Pablo’s great-grandmother Rosa’s brothers, Pablo’s great-great-uncles, were Jorge Alessandri Rodríguez, who served as President of Chile, from 1958 to 1964, and Fernando Alessandri, who served as President of the Senate of Chile, from 1950 to 1958.

Pablo’s maternal grandmother was María Teresa Lecaros Izquierdo (the daughter of José Antonio Lecaros Barros and Teresa Izquierdo Valdés). José was the son of Pablo José Ruperto Lecaros Valdés and Rosalía Barros Fuenzalida. Pablo’s great-grandmother Teresa was the daughter of Tadeo Izquierdo Varas and María Teresa Valdés Lecaros.

Manuel Pellegrini is a Chilean professional football manager and former footballer. He won the English Premier League title in 2014 as coach of Manchester City.

Manuel is the son of Silvia Ripamonti Barros and Emilio Pellegrini Portales.

He descends from Colonel William de Vic Tupper Brock (known as Guillermo Tupper in Spanish), who was born, c. 1800, in Guernsey, Channel Islands (or Scotland), and died in the Chilean War of Independence.

Manuel is a fifth cousin, once removed, of actor Santiago Cabrera. Manuel’s great-great-great-great-great-grandmother, María Ignacia Isidora Zegers Montenegro (known as Isidora Zegers), was also the four times great-grandmother of Santiago Cabrera. María Ignacia Isidora was a prominent artist and composer in Chile; she was born in Madrid, Spain, and was the daughter of Juan Francisco Zegers Durás, who was born, c. 1781, in France, and of Florencia Montenegro Rodríguez de Toledo, who was born, c. 1785, in Madrid. Isidora was married to Manuel’s ancestor Colonel William de Vic Tupper Brock.

The Zegers family are Flemish Belgians.

Manuel’s paternal grandfather was Giulio/Julio Pellegrini Pellegrini (the son of Guilio Pellegrini and Catalina Pellegrini). Manuel’s grandfather Giulio was an emigrant from Tuscany, Italy.

Manuel’s paternal grandmother was Malvina Portales Solari (the son of Víctor Portales Cruzat and Isabel Solari). Victor was the son of José Gustavo Portales Aliaga and Rosario Cruzat y Silva.

Manuel’s maternal grandfather was Julio Ripamonti Corominas (the son of Higinio Ripamonti Vigil and Dolores Corominas Clusellas). Higinio was the son of Alejandro Ripamonti Fernandez and Venencia Vigil y Antelo. Ripamonti is an Italian surname, but that branch of Manuel’s family comes from La Coruna, Galicia, Spain. Dolores was the daughter of José Corominas and Francisca Clusellas.

Manuel’s maternal grandmother was Elisa Barros Puelma (the daughter of Manuel Barros Borgoño and Elisa Puelma Tupper). Manuel’s great-grandfather Manuel Barros Borgoño was the son of Manuel Barros Arana and Eugenia Borgoño Vergara. Manuel’s great-grandmother Elisa was the daughter of Francisco Segundo Puelma Castillo and Elisa Tupper Zegers.
