Kaiwi Lyman-Mersereau is an American actor. He is the son of Marion Lyman-Mersereau (Marion W. Lyman), a poet and navigator, and Arthur Mersereau.

Kaiwi’s father, who is from Massachusetts, is of Irish, French-Canadian, Scottish, Dutch, and likely English, ancestry. His mother, who is from Hawaii, is of English, Irish, 1/16th Chinese, and 1/16th Native Hawaiian, descent.

Kaiwi’s paternal grandfather was Arthur Mersereau (the son of Miles Alexander Mersereau and Margaret Lucinda “Maggie” McRae). Arthur was born in Maine. Miles was born in Canada, the son of Richard Mersereau and Sarah Dudley. Margaret was also born in Canada, the daughter of John McRae and Hannah Weaver.

Kaiwi’s paternal grandmother was named Mary O’Connor. Mary’s parents were Canadian.

Kaiwi’s maternal grandfather was David Belden “Bel” Lyman (the son of David Belden Kua’ana Lyman and Charlotte Armstrong). Kaiwi’s great-grandfather David’s father, Rufus Anderson Lyman, was a lawyer and politician, who founded the Pa’auhau Sugar Plantation Company. Rufus was born in Hawaii, and was the son of David Belden Lyman, a missionary to Hawaii, who was born in Connecticut, and of Sarah Joiner, who was born in Vermont.

David’s mother, Kaiwi’s great-great-grandmother, was born as Hualani Ahung, but went under the anglicized name Rebecca Brickwood, after her father had died when she was one year old and she was adopted by her mother’s second husband, Postmaster General Arthur Peter Brickwood, who was from Cornwall, England. Rebecca was born in Hawaii, and was the daughter of Chun Ahung, a Chinese merchant from Macau, who co-founded Honolulu’s Hungtai Co., and Louisa/Luika Nahili “Chu Chu” Neddles Gilman. Kaiwi’s great-great-great-grandmother Louisa was of Native Hawaiian descent, and was the biological daughter of Kaniliaulaninui Nahili and Kamoku; she was adopted by John Anthony Needles “Chu Chu” Gilman, a Cherokee Native American, and Louisa Pi’ilani Po’Okui, who was Native Hawaiian.

Kaiwi’s great-grandmother Charlotte was born in Canada, to Irish parents, Robert Armstrong and Jane Mooney.

Kaiwi’s maternal grandmother was Marion P. Webster (the daughter of Ernest Charles Webster and Marion Rawling Mix). Kaiwi’s grandmother Marion was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, to parents from Connecticut. Ernest was the son of Wilbur F. Webster and Jennie A. Wooster. Kaiwi’s great-grandmother Marion was the daughter of Arthur Hendrick Mix and Emelia Louisa Rawling, whose parents were English.
