Miguel Díaz-Canel is a Cuban politician. He has served as the 19th President of Cuba, since 19 April, 2018. He has been a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of Cuba, since 2003. He was previously Minister of Higher Education, from 8 May, 2009 to 21 March, 2012, and the 3rd First Vice President of Cuba, from 24 February, 2013 to 19 April, 2018.

His father, Miguel Díaz-Canel, is a mechanical plant worker. His mother, Aida Bermúdez, is a schoolteacher.

Miguel is married to Lis Cuesta Peraza. He has two children with his former wife, dentist Marta Villanueva.

One of Miguel’s paternal great-grandfathers, Ramón Díaz-Canel, emigrated from Castropol, Asturias, Spain.

Wayne Static was an American musician. He is known as the lead vocalist, guitarist, keyboardist and programmer for the American industrial metal band Static-X.
