Gale is the daughter of Lolita/Loretta Sandra (Jordan) Cross-Espiau and Frank Elias Hirshstein/Hurd. Gale’s father was Jewish and Gale’s mother was Catholic. Gale is married to screenwriter and director Jonathan Hensleigh. She has a daughter with her former husband, director and screenwriter Brian De Palma.
