Sônia Braga is a Brazilian actress.

Sônia was born in Maringá, Paraná, the daughter of Hélio Fernando Ferraz Braga and Maria Jaci Campos. Her siblings are Ana, Júlio, and Hélio. Her niece (Ana’s daughter) is actress Alice Braga. Sônia was raised between Curitiba, Paraná, and Campinas, São Paulo, and moved to the U.S in 1985.

Her father is said to have Portuguese and African ancestry. Her mother has Indigenous and European heritage.

The Ebony Magazine Edition of February 1991 wrote of Sônia, “Sonia Braga (below, left) the acclaimed actress  who is recognized around the world as White, is among the cultural exports Afro-Brazilians claim as their own”.

Luma Grothe is a Brazilian model. She was born in Joinville, Santa Catarina, the daughter of Luci Regis Machado and Maciel Grothe. She has a sister, Amanda.

Her surname, “Grothe”, is of German origin.

Regarding her ethnic background, she has stated:

I think in high school people always thought I was different than the others. There is this Brazilian type that is long straight hair, darker skin, kind of native looking, but I was always super different. People didn’t think I should be a model, they just thought I was different looking. I’m German, African and Japanese. My dad is a mix of German and Japanese and African, and my mom is German.

Fernando Henrique Cardoso

Fernando Henrique Cardoso is a Brazilian sociologist, professor, and politician. A member of the Brazilian Social Democracy Party, he served as President of Brazil, from 1 January, 1995 to 1 January, 2003. He was also Joint President of the Brazilian Social Democracy Party, from 25 June, 1988 to 1989, and Minister of Finance, from 19 May, 1993 to 30 March, 1994, among other duties.

President Cardoso is the son of Nayde (Silva) and Leônidas Cardoso. He is said to have a black great-grandfather and a mulatto great-grandmother.

President Cardoso’s paternal grandparents were Joaquim Ignácio Baptista Cardoso (the son of Felicissimo do Espírito Santo Cardoso and Emerenciana Vicência de Azevedo) and Leonídia Fernandes. Felicissimo was the son of Manuel Cordoso de Campos and Rita Porfíria da Silva e Oliveira.

President Cardoso’s maternal grandparents were Silvestre Domingues de Araújo e Silva and Cândida Rego.

A DNA test whose results were displayed on the Brazilian TV show Fantástico in August 2006 stated that Ivete’s genetic ancestry is:
