Susan Tedeschi is an American blues and soul singer and guitarist.
Susan is married to Derek Trucks, an Allman Brothers Band slide guitarist and bandleader and lead guitarist of The Derek Trucks Band. The couple has two children. Susan is a member of the Tedeschi Trucks Band, a merger of her bands, the Derek Trucks Band, and other musicians.
Susan’s paternal grandfather was Dominic Robert “Nick” Tedeschi, Sr. (the son of Angelo Tedeschi and Katherine M. Sabino). Dominic was born in Massachusetts. Angelo was born in Mirabello Sannitico, Province of Campobasso, Molise, Italy, the son of Raphael Tedeschi and Concetta Fantagone. He founded Tedeschi Food Shops, a New England-based supermarket and convenience store chain. Susan’s great-grandmother Katherine was born in New York, the daughter of Italian parents, Dominick Sabino and Giuseppa/Josephine Marie Alvino, who was born in Gravina, Metropolitan City of Bari, Apulia.
Susan’s paternal grandmother was Phyllis Colman Turner (the daughter of Samuel Turner and Ethel Colman Young). Samuel was the son of Arthur James Turner and Hattie Whitcomb Damon.
Susan’s maternal grandfather was James Joseph Doherty II (the son of James Joseph Doherty and Annie Grant). Susan’s great-grandfather James was born in Barracks, County Clare, Ireland, the son of Michael Doherty and Elizabeth. Annie was also of Irish descent, the daughter of Patrick Grant and Mary McLaughlin.
Susan’s maternal grandmother was Edith Adelaide Masters (the daughter of Raymond Elliot Masters and Esther Josephine Catherine/Catharine Bavis). Edith was born in Ohio. Raymond was born in Kentucky, the son of William Eliot Masters and Susan Ritter, who was German. Esther was the daughter of Otto Philip Bavis and Anna B. Seel.
