The American actress is well known for playing Cameron on the series, Terminator: the Sarah Connor Chronicles. She stated in an interview that she is of German and Scots-Irish descent. There was some talk that she could be of Asian or Hispanic descent however she denied this.
On another blog, Newspaper Rock the author investigated Glau’s heritage and got a response from a Fox executive. The executive stated that Glau is one eighth Cherokee Indian. However the author considered the possibility of this being exaggerated.

What exactly IS Scots-Irish? Is it just a mix of Scottish and Irish, or is it something completely different I’m missing? This girl doesn’t look one bit Scottish, Irish or German to me (I would have guessed she was Italian), and Scots-Irish seems to me like a term only used in America… in Australia we just say Scottish and Irish and don’t combine them into one word.

Scots-Irish are Scottish and Northern English people who settled in Northern Ireland during 100 year before they migrate to North America. In UK, they use the term Ulster Scots for those people.
So if she’s Scots-Irish, she must have more Scottish roots than Irish roots.

Whatever she may be, as a native German speaker I have to say that “glau” isn’t even close to “glow” in German, just fyi (I’m not disputing her German heritage, it’s just a correction).

People mistake me for having Asian in my background all the time because of my “racially atypical” features; I’m Black. You can’t rush to judgements on someone’s ethnicity based solely on physiological stereotypes.
